Arsenal suffered a dismal 3-1 loss at the hands of Manchester City this weekend in the Premier League.
And this loss means that the Gunners have now slipped down to the sixth spot on the Premier League table
The Gunners did put up a fight in the first 45 minutes but the quality of Manchester City was no match for Unai Emery’s side.
Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick and but almost every City attacker could get past the Arsenal defence at will – or so it looked.
And after the match, the Arsenal fans have once against turned their rage towards the management for not backing Unai Emery with the necessary players which he needs.
And now even Paul Ince has claimed that the Gunners will have to spend heavily during the summer transfer window if they wish to reach the levels of Liverpool, Man City or even Tottenham.
“They’ve got to spend some money,” said the former midfielder on MOTD 2(as reported).
“That’s the first thing you need to do.
“I look at the back four. They’re an ageing team, that back four.
“If you’re going to get close to Liverpool, City, even Manchester United and Tottenham, they’re so far away. They’ve got to spend money to compete.
“They’ve got the right manager. I really believe that. He started the season so so well. Unbeaten in 22 games in all competitions. But they need to spend a lot of money to close that gap.”
Both Liverpool and Manchester City have spent heavily over the past couple of transfer windows and now the clubs are reaping the benefits.
Many might argue that Spurs have not signed a single player during the past two windows but even then Arsenal are nowhere close to their level of football.
The Gunners fans are furious with their owner since he has refused to pump in money into player transfers and up until now, Arsenal have only been using the money which they have earned during the course of the season.
This though would have to change at the end of the season or else Arsenal will most certainly fade into oblivion.
