Ever since Steven Gerrard was appointed as the new Rangers boss earlier on this summer, the former Liverpool midfielder has been shrewd with his transfer strategies.

Gerrard has made seven signings so far this season and each one of them has been informed buys.

The Gers have spent a little over 7 million pounds on players transfer this summer and out of the seven players, three have moved to Ibrox on a free transfer.

Celtic, on the other hand, have made just two signing and while one has been a free transfer the acquisition of Odsonne Edouard from PSG has set them back by 9.27 million pounds.

Now though, reports are claiming that Steven Gerrard is on the verge of making his eighth signing of the summer transfer window and the new Light Blues boss is going to great length to ensure that the move goes through.

Recently Gerrard acknowledged the fact that the club are looking at AS Roma striker Umar Sadiq as a possible target and now news suggests that the Gers are willing to pay a six-figure sum in order to bring Sadiq to the club on a season-long loan deal.

Sadiq is definitely one of the brightest prospects at Roma but the 21-year-old has failed to break into the first team. Roma though are not keen to let the player go out permanently and a loan deal will be the only thing that Rangers can get right now – maybe with an option to make the deal permanent.

Gerrad has purchased players for almost every area of the pitch but the offer for Umar Sadiq clearly outlines Steven Gerrard’s desperation to land a good quality striker before the start of the new season.
