Rangers vs Leipzig

Rangers FC will take on Rapid Vienna on Thursday in the Europa League and they will be itching to get back to winning ways after their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Livingston this past weekend.

Rangers drew their first group game of the Europa League 2-2 against Villarreal but that draw was nothing less than a victory.

Rapid Vienna, on the other hand, won their first game of the competition 2-0 against Spartak Moscow.

But the Austrian side have decided to make a monumental change by bringing in a new manager just days before they head to Scotland.

Rapid Vienna have appointed former player Dietmar Kuhbauer as their new manager and the Rangers game will be his first game in charge.

The Austrian outfit have been suffering from poor form in the Bundesliga as they have managed to pick up just nine points out of their first nine games of the season.

They are currently languishing eighth on the league table – 18 points behind the league leaders.

Dietmar Kuhbauer is regarded as a legend at Rapid Vienna having won a number of domestic titles during his time at the club but it will be a real uphill task for him to keep Rangers at bay come Thursday.

After being appointed as the manager of Rapid Vienna, Kuhbauer said: “I have never made a secret of the fact my ambition in football was for me to be Rapid manager.

“Now I have finally got there.

“I want to repay the trust placed in me by the board and the fans. We face a real challenge, but if we are together, we can go great places.

“We start in Glasgow against Rangers. That’s an enormous challenge in a fantastic stadium, but I want the players to show me what they can do.”

The Light Blues though have a perfect opportunity to pick up their first win in the Europa League given the Rapid Vienna players will be trying to figure out what their new manager actually wants from them.
