Sadio Mane to return to the EPL
Sadio Mane playing for Liverpool

Liverpool are planning to offer Sadio Mane a new deal at the club which is expected to deflect interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid – as per Football Insider.

The forward has been one of the best players for Liverpool over the past two seasons and he is right now the biggest asset to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp. Even bigger than Mo Salah.

During the 2019-20 season, Mane has already scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in 26 Premier League matches which is why Real Madrid have made him one of their biggest transfer targets for the upcoming transfer window.

The 28-year-old still has three years left on his current deal but Liverpool are already thinking of offering him a new and improved contract so as to keep him at Anfield beyond the summer.

The report claims: “Liverpool are planning to offer Sadio Mane a blockbuster new contract that will see him end his career at Anfield, Football Insider understands.

“A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the club are willing to hand Mane an extended deal after an incredible two seasons in which he has been one of the driving forces in their domination of European and domestic football.”

Will Real Madrid pull the plug on the Sadio Mane transfer?

Sadio Mane signed a contract extension back in 2018 under the terms of which he currently earns £100,000 per week at Liverpool which is in the same price bracket as the likes of Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren.

So clearly this new deal will hand the forward a significant pay rise and he could very well be the highest-paid player in the roster.

But despite this attempt, we do not think Real Madrid will be too heart-broken since Liverpool’s highest earner right now is Mo Salah who earns £200,000 per week. And to be honest this is pocket change for the Los Blancos management.

Also, unlike other teams, Madrid are not expected to be hurt by the current financial crisis so they can go all out to pay the full asking price for Sadio Mane along with handing the forward a massive contract at the Bernabeu.

So clearly, Real Madrid are by no means out of this transfer race, more so since Sadio Mane is yet to agree to the terms of the new deal.
