Celtic FC have been keen to bring in Rekeem Harper from West Brom during the summer transfer window – as per reports.

Neil Lennon is planning to bring in a new midfielder for the 2019-20 season and multiple media outlets are claiming that Harper is the first priority for the Celtic boss.

The West Brom youngster has come up through the ranks at the club and during the 2018-19 season, the 19-year-old made some impressive performances for the Championship side.

Last campaign Harper went on to play 30 games across all competitions for West Brom – scoring 3 goals.

But James Morrison had recently urged the player to stay back at West Brom instead of joining the Bhoys due to the lack of game time that he would be getting at Celtic Park.

“In midfield next season there’s only Rak, Sam Field, Jake Livermore and Chris Brunt. He’s got a chance to play,” Morrison said.

“Is he guaranteed that at Celtic? He’s not. And that’s a tough place to play too.”

Norwich City have also shown interest in signing the teenager but reports suggest that Celtic are still the favourites to sign him during the coming months.

Celtic will have to pay West Brom Fifa’s standard international compensation package of £235,000 in order to sign Rekeem Harper. But this will certainly be a really small amount for such a fine talent.

Rekeem Harper is set to become a free agent during the summer but the Baggies are still trying hard to make the youngster sign a new deal.

West Brom have already announced that they have offered a new contract to Rekeem Harper but we do not believe that the midfielder will put pen to paper amidst such strong interest from Celtic.
