Riyad Mahrez was a key player when Leicester City ever since he helped win the Premier League a couple of seasons ago. And ever since then, the winger has been trying to move out.

Last summer Mahrez was linked with a series of top European clubs but none of that materialized and the Algerian eventually ended up staying with Leicester for one more season.

Come to the January transfer window several reports claimed that Pep Guardiola had grown a liking towards Riyad Mahrez and wanted to sign him up.

The winger even handed in a formal transfer request in order to force a move out of the club and join Manchester City.

But with only one month in hand, the negotiations failed and Mahrez once again had to wait for the summer transfer window.

And now that the summer has arrived, it is being believed that the 27-year-old was pretty close to signing for the reigning Premier League champions.

Well, now reports are claiming, that deal has hit a major roadblock as Riyad Mahrez is now demanding some extra payments before he moves out of Leicester City.

Mahrez is of the view that he is entitled to a loyalty pay-off for helping the Foxes lift the Premier League trophy in 2016.

Leicester though are claiming that since Mahrez had handed a request to move out of the club during January he is not eligible to receive any such payments.

These disagreements have caused a bit of an issue putting Mahrez’s move to Manchester City on hold.

City were eager to wrap up the deal before the World Cup comes to an end but now it seems that the saga could drag on and Mahrez may as well join the Etihad outfit right before the new season kicks off.
