Chelsea have had a mixed season under new manager Maurizio Sarri and right now they are fighting tooth and nail to get back into the Champions League next campaign.
And amongst this, there have been rumours that current boss Roman Abramovich is planning to sell off the club as soon as possible.
During the past year, Roman Abramovich has found it really difficult to get into England due to the strained relationship between the UK and Russia after the Salisbury Novichok poisoning.
And due to this, Roman Abramovich has had to adopt Isreali citizenship.
Also, there were reports that for the first time since him buying the club Abramovich did not pay for a corporate box at Stamford Bridge.
So keeping all this in mind it was more or less certain that Roman Abramovich was more than ready to sell Chelsea and rumours had it that self-made British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is the frontrunner to buying the Blues.
Ratcliffe is a season ticket holder at Stamford Bridge and numerous reports claimed that he is keen to take Chelsea under his wing.
But now ESPN are claiming that Roman Abramovich is still very much committed to Chelsea and right now he has no plans of selling the club.
The report states: “A source told ESPN that Abramovich has never spoken to Ratcliffe or any other interested party about selling Chelsea.
The Russian remains committed to the club he acquired for £140 million from Ken Bates in July 2003, into which he has since invested around £1.13 billion of his personal wealth.”
Roman Abramovich is the main reason why Chelsea have been able to mingle with the big boys during the past one and a half decades but it looked like the Russian had finally grown frustrated.
Now though, ESPN are claiming that Roman Abramovich is going nowhere which surely is great news for a number of Chelsea fans.
