England were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup but a resilient Croatian side who refused to bow down to the Three Lions.

England took the lead in the game but after that everything went downhill for Gareth Southgate’s side.

The Three Lions registered only a single shot apart from the goal they scored which clearly showed their inability to tear down the Croatian defence.

And former Manchester United midfielder, Roy Keane has the exact same emotions.

Keane who is currently working as a pundit on ITV during the World Cup had a couple of harsh words to say about England and their exit from the 2018 World Cup.

Roy Keane said: “Harry Kane made a point about the next step they’re trying to take,

“The next step is the biggest step, trying to get to the World Cup final. The hardest step by far.

“They didn’t show enough quality tonight – England. I think the opportunity was there to win the game. Having that opportunity and going to take it is another challenge. And they didn’t do that.

“They will be kicking themselves. Maybe not so tonight as they’ll be sore and they’ll be raw.

“But when Gareth gets back over the next few weeks with his staff, they look at it and go, ‘maybe we could have done some stuff differently’.

“But you always have that mindset after the game when you get beaten. But it was just a step too far for them.”

There have also been some rumours that Harry Kane was playing against Croatia with an injury but those rumoured have been stifled by Gareth Southgate.

England will now have a chance to finish third in the World Cup when they take on Belgium in the third-place play-off on Saturday.
