Well, not exactly a flop, but when you are talking about Paul Pogba and his standards the 2017-18 season can be deemed as a failure for the Frenchman.

Pogba continuously delivered mediocre performances under Jose Mourinho this past season and this was a serious cause of concern for the Didier Deschamps leading to the World Cup in Russia.

But instead of basking in his mediocrity the midfielder has upped his game and now Paul Pogba is one of the better footballers scheduled to play the final.

And Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has revealed why exactly has the Man United star thrived in the French midfield.

Talking to beIn Sports, Wenger said: “Sometimes he can lose himself by doing things that aren’t useful,

“Today he kept things simple and was impressive.

“His long balls are exceptional, few can do that in the world.”

Another big reason for Pogba’s success during the tournament is because of his midfield partner N’Golo Kante.

The little Chelsea man is everywhere, covering every inch of the pitch and this gives Paul Pogba license to roam about and try things which he would not have done with Manchester United.

With Kante by his side, Pogba has that added level of security which in turn helps his play with a bit more freedom.

Paul Pogba’s performance against Belgium in the semi-final was praised by a number of footballing pundits more so because the midfielder had a great impact on the game despite Roberto Martinez deploying Marouane Fellaini as a watchdog.

While Fellaini did his job pretty well but his Paul Pogba’s talent was always a few levels higher than that of his Man United teammate.
