Sadio Mane picked up a hamstring during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Wolves in the Premier League this week and the winger is set to be on the sidelines for a couple of weeks.

The African went down twice in quick succession right before the half-hour mark and finally had to be replaced by Minamino in the 33rd minute.

And speaking after the match, the Liverpool manager failed to provide an update on the extent of the injury claiming it was too early to make a prediction.

The injury update released by the club read: ‘Liverpool must wait to discover the extent of the injury sustained by Sadio Mane during Thursday’s 2-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

‘The Reds’ No.10 was forced off in the first half at Molineux due to a hamstring issue, Jürgen Klopp confirmed post-match.

‘The boss said: “We don’t know exactly [what the injury is], it’s the muscle. He felt something in the hamstring. We don’t know yet, obviously, we have to wait. We will see.”’

The extent of the injury will only be known after a couple of days but if Sadio Mane has indeed picked up a hamstring injury then he is likely to miss the next couple of matches for Liverpool.

While this will be a personal setback for the recently crowned African Player of the Year but Jurgen Klopp shouldn’t be too concerned since Liverpool have relatively easy matches in their next couple of outings.

They face the likes of West Ham, Southampton and Norwich in the Premier League next up so the absence of Sadio Mane can be easily dealt with by Jurgen Klopp – if he is sidelined for two to three weeks.
