Manchester United have recently been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez – as per reports.

And now even Rio Ferdinand believes that Saul should be the go-to man in case Man United lose Paul Pogba in the summer.

“I don’t want Pogba to go but if he does go I’d take Saul Niguez all day long,” he said during an Instagram Live on his official page, as quoted by MEN.

“Not like-for-like but still a top player.

“What a player. I’ve been harping on about Saul Niguez for a few years now.

“I think he’s a major player. Composed, calm, great left foot, lovely conductor, he can score goals, tactically he’s very aware.

“You can see [Diego] Simeone, he gets his teams really well set up and he’s in the middle orchestrating and dictating things.”

Can Saul Niguez replace Pogba?

There are still major doubts as to whether Paul Pogba will stay or leave Manchester United in the summer but most bg pundits feel that the Frenchman will try and push for a move out.

And maybe Manchester United too have gotten a hint which is why they are looking at players like Saul Niguez who could be potential replacements for Paul Pogba.

Saul has been a key part of Diego Simeone’s side and his presence in Man United’s midfield will surely add a lot of calm to the side.

And while we agree that the Atletico man does not have the same charisma and talent like Paul Pogba but Saul Niguez has been under the watchful eyes of Diego Simeone all this while so the last thing he will be is a rebel and self-centred man.

But having said all this, Man United would still want to hold onto Paul Pogba and if they can manage to do that then we don’t think Ole will sanction a move for Saul Niguez in the summer.
