Scott McTominay has been a key figure for Man United in the middle of the park this season and on Sunday he played a key part in getting United’s second goal vs Brighton.

United won the match 3-1 but McTominay picked up an injury towards the end of the match which forced him to limp off the pitch.

The Scott looked in some agony after falling to the ground and initially, a stretcher was brought onto the pitch to take him off.

While the player did opt to leave the match on his feet but it is being reported that he completed the rest of the journey on the stretcher and now the Man United manager has claimed that Scott McTominay could be sidelined for a couple of weeks.

“He went over on his ankle and it looked like a painful one,” said Solskjaer.

“He’s in for a scan tomorrow so it could be a couple of weeks out but we hope not. He wasn’t rolling around so hopefully, it won’t be too serious.”

Scott McTominay has been one of the standout players for Man United this season and if he is indeed out for the next couple of weeks then it surely will be a huge blow for Solskjaer given that Paul Pogba has also been recovering from an injury.

While the manager does have the option of using Nemanja Matic in midfield but the Serbian surely cannot have the same impact as McTominay has had since the start of the season.

One silver lining for Man United is that the international break has just kicked on meaning the midfielder will get a fair bit of time to recover without losing any game time.

But if somehow Scott McTominay cannot make himself fit in time then he could have to sit out against the likes of Tottenham as well as Manchester City.

Man United play Spurs on the 4th of next month and then just three days later they travel to the Etihad in order to take on their local rivals.

And if McTominay is ruled out of these matches then surely Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United will have a mountain to climb.
