Sean Longstaff has come up through the ranks at Newcastle United and last season the youngster managed to feature in 9 Premier League games for the Magpies.

And now with Ayoze Perez leaving the club, it was being claimed that the mantle would now pass onto Sean Longstaff and next season, the 21-year-old would play a key role.

Now though it looks like the midfielder could very well be on his way out of the club with reports claiming that Man United have grown a liking towards him.

Up until last month, it was more or less certain that Sean Longstaff was ready to commit his future to Newcastle United but now with Rafa Benitez leaving the club, the situation might have changed.

As per reports, Sean Longstaff is not too pleased with the fact that Benitez was allowed to leave the club and now the midfielder is having a rethink about his future.

And now with Man United seemingly interested in signing him, the Englishman could choose to head to Old Trafford this summer.

Mike Ashley though has made up his mind regarding Sean Longstaff and as per the Times, Newcastle United will not allow the 21-year-old to leave the club this summer – especially since they have already parted ways with Ayoze Perez.

The Times wrote:

“Newcastle United are ready to resist attempts by Manchester United to sign their young star Sean Longstaff as a replacement for Paul Pogba. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to offer £30m this week for the young English midfielder.

“Newcastle sold their Spanish forward Ayoze Perez last week for the same figure after the departure of Rafa Benitez at the end of June.

“That has led to the belief Manchester United, who are preparing a five-year deal, will land the Geordie 21-year-old. However, Newcastle are determined the player will not leave this summer and add to the exodus at St James’ Park.”

Sean Longstaff is yet to find his feet at Newcastle United and we do not feel that he would be ready to fill the boost of someone like Paul Pogba. But if Man United do manage to sign him then he could turn out to be a fine investment a couple of seasons time.

UPDATE ON SEAN LONGSTAFF:

Up until now, Man United’s interest in Sean Longstaff were mere rumours but now it looks like the Red Devils are seriously thinking of making a move.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have held talks with Newcastle United over the availability of the midfielder but they are yet to make any official bid for him.

The interest of United will surely be a big deal for Sean Longstaff but the report also makes it clear that the Magpies are not keen to offload the 21-year-old this summer transfer window.
