Sheffield United travel to Old Trafford in midweek in order to take on Manchester United in the Premier League and Chris Wilder could be in serious trouble.

The Blades have had a fine campaign so far and if they can manage to beat Man United then they will move above them on the league table and will then have a real chance of finishing in the top four.

But they restarted their campaign with a dismal 3-0 loss to Newcastle United during the weekend and it could get even worse for Chris Wilder.

Defender Phil Jagielka picked up a knock in training on Saturday and right now, he’s a doubt for the clash against Manchester United on Wednesday.

“We have another 24 hours to improve Jags,” Wilder said, as reported by the Examiner.

“Saturday he blocked a shot and turned his ankle over, but I am sure he will be OK.

“It’s a daily conversation that I have with the medical department. He’s progressing very well, we are hoping it will be close and we will see how he goes again today.

“We’ll make that sensible decision when he’s ready to come back.”

If the 37-year-old cannot make himself available for selection then it will be a major cause of concern for the Sheffield United manager since John Egan is suspended for this match after picking up a red card vs the Magpies.

Also, Jack O’Connell has missed Sheffield United’s last two matches with an injury and the 26-year-old is facing a race against time to be fully fit.

Some experts think O’Connell should be fit in time to start but if he does not then it will be problems for Wilder who will have no other option but to opt for a change in formation.

Manchester United, on the other hand, will be loving this since apart from all the injury crisis, Sheffield United will also miss Dean Henderson who is currently on loan from Man United.
