Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been tipped to move out of the club in the summer with a few clubs interested in signing him – as per reports.

The Gabon international right now has one year left on his current deal and by the looks of it, he will not be agreeing to a new contract meaning the Gunners could be forced to cash in on him at the end of this season.

Arsenal though are desperate to hold onto him since Aubameyang happens to be their biggest asset right now but this transfer saga has caught a lot of wind in the past couple of days after the Gabon FA president had hinted that the forward should join a more ambitious club.

Now ex-Arsenal man Paul Merson has come out to explain why Aubameyang shouldn’t take the risk of joining a new club at the age of 30 despite big clubs interested in signing him.

Merson told Sky Sports: “It’s easy saying move to another, more ambitious club and win stuff but there are not a lot of trophies to win, especially with the two phenomenal football clubs Liverpool and Manchester City.

“The grass is not always green on the other side, you have got to be careful.

“Aubameyang is at an age now where he will play every week for Arsenal. If he goes to, say, Manchester United or somewhere else, four or five bad games and you are out of the team.

“He’s going to play every week at Arsenal and when you are coming towards the end of your career, two or three years to go, you have got to enjoy your football and play.

“If I were Aubameyang’s agent I would be stressing that he is at one of the best clubs in the world, a phenomenal football club that has as much chance as anybody, bar Manchester City and Liverpool, winning something. For me, I would stay.”

Should Aubameyang stay at Arsenal?

Aubameyang has netted 17 goals in the Premier League for Arsenal this season and undoubtedly he is the biggest star at the Emirates right now.

But if he was to join a new club this summer, the forward will have to prove his worth once again to his new manager and we are not sure he has the tenacity to compete with say someone like a Rashford or Anthony Martial.

Also, he should consider looking at the career graph of Alexis Sanches who chose to ditch a perfect career at Arsenal and move to Manchester United a couple of transfer windows ago.

And right now the Chilean has not only been sent out on loan to Inter Milan but there too he has failed to gather success.

So all in all, the odds are stacked highly against the Gabon international if he wants to move only to win trophies. But some experts believe that apart from the silverware factor, the forward also has a lucrative salary package in mind.
