According to a report in Football Insider, West Ham United are interested in signing Eddie Nketiah despite Arsenal taking him off the market.

Initially, there were reports that the Gunners are willing to cash in on Nketiah at the start of the new year but in recent weeks, Mikel Arteta has refused to sell the forward.

It’s being claimed that the Arsenal manager will want to hold onto the 24-year-old until the end of the season but as per rumours, West Ham feel an appropriate fee will help strike a deal.

The Hammers management are of the view Arsenal will try and resist a deal for Eddie Nketiah but a transfer fee of around £40 million can change their stance.

Eddie Nketiah had moved ahead of Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order at the start of this season but in recent weeks, he’s hardly started games for the North London side. In his previous five games, the forward has played only 120 minutes of football.

Jesus is back as the priority centre-forward for Arsenal and if Mikel Arteta has plans to bring in a new forward in January then he won’t mind selling Eddie Nketiah to West Ham United.

Arsenal are interested in signing Ivan Toney but the Bees man will cost a lot of money and if West Ham United are ready to pay £40 million then the Gunners won’t mind cashing in on him.

Mikel Arteta won’t mind selling Eddie Nketiah and using that money to bring in a proper reinforcement but if Arsenal cannot get their hands on a world-class forward then there’s no way they will part ways with Nketiah.

The England international has scored five goals in nine league starts and honestly, if Jesus is back to scoring goals consistently then Eddie Nketiah will only be a bench warmer.

A player like Toney or Osimhen will be a massive upgrade in the attacking department for Arsenal and at the same time, Nketiah can fit in perfectly in a David Moyes team.
