Victor Osimhen has signed a new contract which will keep the striker at Napoli until 2026 but still, there are reports that he will be joining a Premier League side in the summer.

Arsenal and Chelsea are the two front runners in signing the 24-year-old but this new deal is a big win for Aurelio de Laurentiis who were at the risk of losing Osimhen after their relationship hit rock bottom at the start of the season.

The new contract means Victor Osimhen will not be leaving during the January transfer window but his agent Calenda has refused to rule out an exit in the near future.

His agent has said, as per Fabrizio Romano: “Release clause? The contract is confidential. Proposals next summer?

“Next summer it will be the same: we’ll speak to Napoli and we will decide together.

“Last summer, some monstruos bids arrived… but we decided to stay.”

As per the rumours, the new deal has a release clause worth €130 million which is a big setback for both the London clubs. However, this figure is not going to stop Victor Osimhen from joining a PL side.

The Nigerian international has netted 67 goals in 117 appearances for Napoli and he’s always dreamed of playing in the English top division.

Pochettino has made it clear that he needs a new centre-forward but it will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to wait until the summer to be able to get their hands on Osimhen. They need a new striker for the second half of the season but if Poch is serious about the Napoli man then maybe, the Chelsea boss will rely on Nkunku until the summer.

Arsenal have made it clear that they won’t sell Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah in January plus their board won’t sanction a €100 million-plus deal during the middle of the season. This means either Mikel Arteta will have to go after someone like Ivan Toney at the start of the new year or wait for Osimhen.

Overall, both the London sides will have to wait till the end of the season if they wish to land Victor Osimhen but we are confident that many other teams will join the bandwagon come May. Napoli, will not want to lose their most prized asset, especially after he’s just signed a new deal but this new release clause means they have the bargaining chip in terms of the transfer.
