Emiliano Buendia has been on fire for Norwich City during the 2020-21 season but chances are he will be leaving the Canaries before the next season begins.

Premier League sides Arsenal and Aston Villa have been heavily linked with the winger in the past few months and both of them are expected to make a move really soon.

It looks almost inevitable that Emiliano Buendia will be leaving Norwich City this summer but according to former England international Danny Mills, the 24-year-old should join Aston Villa and not Arsenal.

“You want to play, that’s the most important thing,” Mills told Football Insider.

“Villa are probably looking at it as a replacement for Ross Barkley. Jack Grealish could even move on at some point.

“Arsenal, it’s a little bit scattergun. We’re not really sure what’s going on at Arsenal at the moment. We don’t know what direction they’re heading in, what style of play they’re going to play. There’s a lot of unanswered questions.

“On the face of it in terms of stability Arsenal were back in the day a bigger club and had better prospects. But actually, you need stability and you want to play and actually, that would be Villa.”

Norwich City want around £40million for the sale of Emiliano Buendia, a figure which both Arsenal and Villa can afford. But like Mills, we also think the winger should look to head to Villa Park.

Arsenal have finished above Aston Villa on the Premier League table but despite that, Villa are a much more sorted side at the moment.

Also, Arsenal have players like Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe and both of them play in the exact same position as Buendia. So, if the Argentinian joins the North London side next season, he might be devoid of playing time.

The Gunners obviously have a much better chance at playing in Europe next season as compared to Aston Villa but Emi Buendia will want to join a side where he can play an active part. And as things stand, he has a better chance of doing that at Villa Park as compared to the Emirates.

During the 2020-21 season, Emiliano Buendia scored 15 and assisted 17 goals in 39 Championship games for Norwich City and his current deal with the club expires in the summer of 2024.
