Eric Dier Spurs Premier League

Spurs suffered a surprising 1-0 loss at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion in the English English Premier League and with this dented confidence, the Lilywhites will now have to face Chelsea at home.

Tottenham became the first team to lose at the AMEX this season and the defeat means Spurs are now six points adrift the fourth spot on the league table having played one game less.

So if Jose Mourinho’s men fail to win against the Blues on Thursday then they could go into the next weekend in the 10th spot on the table – if the sides below them manage to win their respective matches this week.

Spurs have now suffered back-to-back losses in the Premier League so they just can’t afford to drop any more points right now. That though will be easier said than done since Mourinho will be without some key players like Harry Kane, Reguilon and Lo Celso.

Spurs team news vs Chelsea:

Eric Dier was on the bench for the Brighton game but he will come back into the side on Thursday as Mourinho once again goes with a three-man back line. Dier is likely to replace Davinson Sanchez in the starting line-up meaning Joe Rondon and Alderweireld will keep their place.

Tanguy Ndombele limped off at Brighton and as per the latest reports, he’s not going to available for selection for the Chelsea game.

If Ndombele misses out then Harry Winks will come back into the side – playing alongside Pierre-Emile Hjobjerg. Mourinho also has the option of using Sissoko in central midfield but hopefully, he goes with the more creative Winks.

Matt Doherty was on the bench on Sunday but is expected to come back into the starting XI in midweek against the Blues.

Lo Celso and Reguilon are both long-term absentees and Mourinho will also be without the services of his main target man Harry Kane.

With the absence of the England international, Bergwijn could get the chance to start up front once again or Jose could also opt to use Vinicius.

Son will keep his place in the attacking third of the pitch but it will be interesting to see if the Spurs boss chooses to keep Gareth Bale in the side or does he bring in either Erik Lamela or Lucas Moura against Chelsea.
