According to a report in HITC, Spurs are looking to go after Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer who’s also wanted by other Premier League clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur had tried to sign the Brazilian defender in 2022 when he was with Torino but Bremer chose to snub a move to England, preferring to remain in Italy and in the end he ended up joining the Old Lady. However, after two years, Juventus are now ready to cash in on the 27-year-old as they look to raise funds for their summer targets.

Ange currently has three centre-backs in the form of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Dragusin but the Spurs manager is eager to add competition to this position for the next season. However, the Lilywhites will have to be ready for a major battle because EPL rivals Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with the Juve defender.

Will Spurs be able to sign Gleison Bremer ahead of their EPL rivals?

The 27-year-old reportedly has a release clause “in excess of £50 million,” and his contract with Juventus expires in 2028. The Old Lady are willing to cash in on him at the end of this season and such a long contract means they do not have to offer any discounts.

Bremer’s market value is £51.5 million so Juventus’ demands are more than justified but we don’t think Liverpool or Man United will want to spend so much on the Brazilian international.

Both United and Liverpool want to sign a new centre-back during the summer but both clubs have other priority targets so neither of them view Bremer as their priority.

The defender wants a fresh challenge and is willing to move to England amidst heavy interest but like United and Liverpool, we doubt if Daniel Levy will also be reluctant to spend so much money on a single player.

Spurs want to sign a new centre-forward, one or maybe two quality midfielders in the summer but if they miss out on Champions League football then the manager will have to work with a very limited budget.

Also, Van de Ven and Romero have done really well for Spurs this season so Gleison Bremer will have to fight ferociously if he wishes to become a regular under Ange. He’s been a regular starter for the Old Lady this season in the Serie A but the Premier League is a totally different beast. Bremer is a player similar in mould to Romero because he is ultra-aggressive plus he has good positioning sense but the 27-year-old is not particularly good with the ball at his feet.

If Spurs are willing to pay up then they should be able to sign Bremer without any major competition from Liverpool or Man United but the North London will definitely want Juventus to lower their ask.
