Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United continues to be in doubt and according to Football Transfers, United want Thomas Frank as a replacement.

Ten Hag has failed to take Man United forward this season and the new INEOS owners are considering sacked the Dutch manager. Most experts believe ETH’s job is secure until the end of this season but that hasn’t stopped the club from scouting possible replacements.

Gareth Southgate was named as the favourite to replace Ten Hag in the summer but the interest in the England manager seems to have cooled off as Thomas Frank’s name has come to the forefront.

Southgate and Frank aren’t the only names that have been mentioned as the Man United management are also looking at other names like Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi and Hansi Flick. However, Thomas Frank seems to be at the top of United’s wishlist.

Is Thomas Frank the ideal candidate to be the next Man United manager?

Erik ten Hag took charge at Manchester United in 2022 and last season, he won the League Cup but United have not been able to accelerate this time around.

Man United have been knocked out of Europe and currently, the Red Devils are sixth on the Premier League table, 17 points behind the league leaders. United are still alive in the FA Cup but the rumours are suggesting that Ten Hag will be sacked even if he helps lift the FA Cup.

Now, coming to Thomas Frank, the 50-year-old Danish manager has been with Brentford FC since 2018 and to date, he has managed 265 games for the Bees. Under him, Brentford have done fairly well, securing promotion to the Premier League but he’s been moving at just 1.51 points per game and it’s impossible to see him take charge of a team like Manchester United.

At Brentford, Thomas Frank has lost(92) almost the same number of games as he has won(114). He’s been with the club for six seasons out of which three have been in the top division. In the 2021–22 campaign, Brentford managed to finish 13th on the EPL and last season, they finished 9th. Right now, the Bees are sitting on the 15th’s spot on the table.

For Brentford, Frank has been a great manager because the club has been in the top flight for three consecutive seasons now but a team like Manchester United do not have such ambitions. United wish to return to the Champions League as soon as possible and they also want to challenge for the EPL title but we doubt if Thomas Frank can fulfil either of these dreams.

Man United have been really unpredictable under Erik ten Hag this season and if the club wants their glory days back then they will have to bring in someone else. However, there’s no way Thomas Frank can be that man because his team are currently sitting just five points above the relegation zone.
