England did wonders at the World Cup in Russia this summer under their young and versatile manager Gareth Southgate.

The Three Lions worked as a unit and exceeded everyone’s expectations and the die-hard fans have been claiming this might just be the side which will bring him the World Cup next time around.

But the English FA might have a very big problem at hand given Gareth Southgate might not remain the England manager for a very long time.

The Football Association have trying very hard to make Southgate sign a new deal and at the same time, they are weighing in some other options who can possibly replace him at the helm.

And football pundit, Martin Keown feels that one Premiership manager is making a good case for himself.

Keown was obviously talking about Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard.

The pundit said“We have Lampard at Derby and Steven Gerrard at Rangers this season. One can only wonder whether in the future, maybe 10 years from now, these two are going to be candidates for the England job after Gareth Southgate’s time is over. These are two great former players earning their stripes,”

Steven Gerrard has made a very positive impact with his managerial debut with Rangers this season.

The first major job that he has done is to bring the Gers back into the Europa League and despite a very slow start, the Glasgow outfit are slowly moving up the ladder in the league.

The Light Blues are currently second on the league table – five points behind league leaders Hearts and if Steven Gerrard can manage to win the Premiership with Rangers this season then surely he will be a top contender to replace Gareth Southgate as the next England manager.
