Chelsea dropped points once again in the Premier League this time drawing 2-2 against Leicester City away from home and Alan Shearer has a word of advice for Tammy Abraham.

The England international started the 2019-20 season in fine form scoring a flurry of goals but during the past couple of seasons, the goals seem to have dried up for the youngster.

On Saturday, the player did have a few chances to put the ball in the back of the net but eventually failed to do so and Shearer feels that Tammy Abraham should do more if the Blues want to kill off teams.

“A lot of the time I listen to his manager Frank (Lampard) after games and he says that Chelsea are not killing teams off,” Shearer said of Match of the Day as quoted by Football London.

“This is not a criticism of Tammy Abraham because I am a huge fan of his. He has got a massive future in the game and he’s scored 13 league goals this season already, which is a very good return.

“But to get from 15 goals to 25, which he is capable of, you just need a little help and reminding of what the good things to do are.

“There was a very good run from him and Pedro didn’t play him in. You could then see the anger in him and he had his arms up in the air and so he should do because that ball should have gone into him.

“There was a moment when Reece James put the ball in the box and he had to be in control of that situation. He shouldn’t have let Jonny Evans get there first.

“He provided another good run and he needed to go across Soyuncu and not come back inside. He needed more confidence to go on his left foot.

“It’s a really difficult role to play even in his first season in the Premier League like he is. Please don’t take that as a criticism as we are fans of him. But to get to that next level, those are the bits that he needs to improve on.”

This season, Tammy Abraham has featured in 32 games across all competitions for Chelsea and has managed to score 15 goals which is not a bad number given he is playing his first major season for the Blues.

But if he needs to cement his place in the starting Xi for years to come surely he will have to work even harder and find the back of the net on a more regular basis.
