Chelsea have won their last five matches in the English Premier League and next up they take on Manchester City right after the international break ends.

The Blues have been flying high under Frank Lampard this season but the same though cannot be said about Manchester City since they lost their last league match vs Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield and during this match they were completely outclassed and outplayed by Klopp’s men.

City right now find themselves nine points adrift the top of the table meaning if they lose to Chelsea then they could well and truly be out of the title race this season.

And according to Paul Merson, Lampard does have the players who can inflict a second straight defeat to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

He said[as quoted]: “You have to remember that City have Chelsea at home next who are good going forward and you are talking about a team who are going to give you problems at the back with Abraham, Mount and Pulisic.

“This is going to be a problem game and if they do not win that game and Liverpool win.

“City have to get through their next six or seven games before they can be title contenders again. They have not got a good run, but if they win all of them and are still in the title race come Christmas, then I will go fair enough.”

Verdict:

The Blues started the second with a 4-0 loss to Man United but they have come a long way since then and right now they are sitting pretty at the third spot on the league table.

Beating Man City away from home will not be a stroll in the park for Chelsea but right now, Guardiola has a number of big injury concerns to deal with.

And we believe, Lampard could use this to his advantage and walk out of the Etihad with all three points.

Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have been key players for Chelsea ever since the 2019-20 season started but most importantly Christian Pulisic too has managed to hit his peak form after being sidelined for the first couple of months.
