Granit Xhaka

Granit Xhaka has been in the eye of the storm during the past couple of weeks at Arsenal and now it’s safe to say the midfielder will no longer play for the club.

The whole fiasco began when the Swiss international abused the home fans while being substituted during a match and this incident immediately led to a lot of controversies.

The fans obviously wanted the player to be frozen out which is something the club obliged immediately and to add to that they also took away the captain’s armband from him and now multiple reports have claimed Granit Xhaka will be on his way out of the club during the January transfer window.

But while everyone has been busy bashing the former captain, Gunners legend Patrick Vieira has come out in support of Granit Xhaka and has tried to explain why he would have reacted in such a crazy manner.

”I feel sorry for him because he [was] the captain and he’s going through a really difficult period and really difficult time at Arsenal,” Vieira said.

“I think we have to remind ourselves that he’s achieved a lot since he’s at Arsenal and he deserves a lot of respect.

“When you’re a player and don’t perform the way you expect, you get frustrated about yourself. And sometimes you say things or do things you regret.

“I find it really difficult a lot of ex-footballers have jumped on him and being really negative towards him – it’s too too easy.

“I know how good he is and he will come through this difficult period because he’s a strong man, he’s a good player. And he will show how good he is.”

Granit Xhaka too had explained why the emotions got the better of him that day but in the end, he admitted he wanted to bury the hatchet and keep on playing for the club.

Sadly though we don’t think it will be possible since the management fully understand that they would be rubbing their fans the wrong way if they let Granit Xhaka back into the squad after such an incident.
