Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has one more year remaining on his contract but it looks like the midfielder will be on his way out this summer.

Last month, there were reports that Liverpool are not going to offer him a new contract at the club which was a clear indication that he will be up for sale immediately.

Now, in a very clear-cut indication, Thiago Alcantara has removed LFC from his Instagram bio which basically means he will be leaving Anfield in the coming weeks.

Should Liverpool hold onto Thiago Alcantara for one more season?

Thiago Alcantara arrived at Liverpool from Bayern Munich in 2020 with loads of expectations but the 32-year-old has been unable to live up to the hype.

He has played 97 games for Liverpool in these three years as most of his time in England has been ravaged by injuries. Since joining the EPL, he has suffered nine injury setbacks, forcing him to miss as many as 62 matches.

It’s not that this probable exit has come as a surprise but we seriously thought that despite his injury woes, Jurgen Klopp will hold onto Thiago until 2024.

The pace of the English game has been too much to handle for the 32-year-old but off the bench and against weaker opposition, he is still a formidable and dominating force.

Liverpool have signed Dominik Szoboszlai and Mac Allister this summer but both of them are attacking midfielders so if Thiago Alcantara was to leave then Klopp will be left with Curtis Jones as the lone central midfielder.

Naby Keita has been allowed to join Werder Bremen on a free transfer and now Thiago is also leaving which means Liverpool will have to bring in at least two central midfielders before the 2023/24 season kicks off.

And in today’s market, the Anfield might have to shell out around €75-80 million to bring in two top-class midfielders.

At 32, Thiago Alcantara is definitely not going to be a regular starter for Liverpool but with the vast amounts of talent he has, the Spaniard can still play a crucial support role.

However, there are no concrete rumours about a club interested in signing him which means there is still a slim chance Thiago will remain at Liverpool. He has 12 months remaining on his contract and his current market value is €15 million so Klopp will surely not be foolish enough to terminate his deal and let him leave as a free agent this summer.
