Timo Werner should try and secure a move to Liverpool this summer and in turn snub any other interest, that’s according to former coach Ralf Rangnick.
The likes of Liverpool and Chelsea have been frantically chasing Timo Werner over the last couple of months but Jurgen Klopp’s men have always been the favourites to sign the 24-year-old.
And according to Rangnick, the German international should join Premier League leaders Liverpool since his style of play is very much in sync with the English club.
Rangnick told BILD, as reported by Goal: “The league is less important, but the club, from a purely hypothetical point of view, I would better see him in good hands with a club that is not necessarily defined by ball possession football.
“Since Timo has made progress under Julian Nagelsmann, his most important weapons, however, are the quick switching movement and his powerful finish.
“Therefore, he would rather fit a club like Liverpool, which is similar to our style of play, but I would prefer him to stay here.
“In the end, it is up to Timo to decide what he wants to do. Here in Leipzig, he knows what he has. Here he can play Champions League again next year.”
Timo Werner to choose Liverpool over Chelsea?
This statement is surely a huge blow to Chelsea’s hopes since Frank Lampard was looking at Timo Werner as the long-term partner to Tammy Abraham.
But in reality, the 24-year-old has never been eager to join the Stamford Bridge outfit and we are pretty sure this is not going to change any time soon.
Werner has time and again made it clear that he wishes to play under Jurgen Klopp and the only way Chelsea would have gotten their hands on the forward is if Liverpool hadn’t been interested.
That’s certainly not the case though since the Liverpool boss is very much eager to make a move for the Leipzig man and has already had conversations with him over the phone. So clearly it will take a lot fo effort to lure Timo Werner to London but first Chelsea will have to ensure Champions League qualification to even stand a chance in this battle.
