Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that he promised his grandfather that one day he will play for La Liga giants Real Madrid.

And soon after this statement, there have been rumours amongst the Arsenal faithful that the Gabon international could be hinting at a possible move to the La Liga at the end of the 2019-20 season.

Aubameyang, via The Sun: “Before he died two years ago I promised him that one day I would play for Real Madrid.

“My grandfather was from Avila, not far from Madrid. It’s what I said to him. I know it’s not easy but it’s something I keep in mind. I celebrate my goals with a cartwheel in honour of Hugo Sanchez.

“I’ve seen many videos of him on the internet and I’ve been following him since I was a boy.”

Is Aubameyang hinting at a move to Real Madrid?

The forward has one more year left on his current deal with Arsenal and right now a number of clubs are interested in signing him, Real Madrid being one of them.

And just this past weekend, there had been reports about Real Madrid stepping up their interest in the forward and having asked Arsenal to make their final call by the middle of June.

Now this statement from Aubameyang has surely added more pressure on the Gunners management as they seriously do not want to lose their most prized asset in the summer.

But to look at the silver lining of this situation, we think, Arsenal will be better off selling Aubameyang to a club like Real Madrid rather than handing him over to a Premier League rival like Chelsea or Manchester United.

Right now, there’s no sign the player will agree to a new deal so Arsenal have no other option but to cash in on him in the summer. And in such a scenario, Mikel Arteta should be looking to send him away as far as possible.
