Timo Werner to Chelsea EPL

Chelsea have signed forwards Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner and on July 1 the two players have officially become part of the Chelsea first-team squad.

Timo Werner and Ziyech can obviously not play any part this season but many people have been left wondering as to what Lampard wishes to do with them. Will the Chelsea boss call the duo over and make them train straight away or will they be sent on a break?

And before Chelsea take on West Ham United in the Premier League, the Chelsea manager has explained his plans on how to use the duo in the coming months.

‘I’m in the process of arranging those plans now,’ he told reporters during the pre-match press conference.

‘They’re both in different positions in the fact that Hakim hasn’t played for a long time because of the Dutch league situation [being abandoned and declared void in April] and obviously Timo finished at the weekend.

‘We will formulate a plan for them which will look slightly different individually. I’ll decide in the meantime how it looks at the training ground, whether that means mixing with the squad or whether it means some physical work in the shorter-term.

‘The first issue right now is how we finish the season, that’s my main focus. In terms of these two players, we have to make sure they arrive with good fitness and freshness levels for next season.

‘They will have a longer break than the players we’ve already got in the squad so I’ll take that firmly into account and when I feel it’s the right time to bring them in and around the squad this season, I can do that. If not, the absolute priority is making sure they’re ready for next season.’

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner will get kind of a prolonged break meaning the expectations will also be massively high from them once the 2020-21 season kicks off.

Both these players have been tipped to bring about a positive change to Chelsea’s forward line and many pundits even think the Blues will now be ready to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
