Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas has been out on loan ever since he joined the club back in 2010.

This season, the centre-back is out on loan to Bristol City where he has impressed almost everyone with his fine performances.

And the 25-year-old had gone on to claim that he was not too keen to move out on yet another loan spell during the summer as he wishes to leave Chelsea.

Kalas said: “Obviously I wish that I could find a club to settle down at for a long time, but I don’t really mind going on loans.

“Some people might hate me for that – not being in a certain place for longer than two seasons but because I adapt quite quickly and I’m easy going, any team, and because I’m not big-headed or arrogant or stuff like that, even though I’m changing teams I feel like I’m at home at every team I come to.

“So that’s not really a problem”

Celtic and Rangers had been linked with Tomas Kalas over the past couple of months but the Glasgow outfits were considered to be on the back foot since many believed that Bristol City’s loan agreement has an option to buy and the Championship side are eager to exercise it.

Now though, the Bristol City CEO has confirmed that the loan contract of Tomas Kalas does not have an option to buy.

He said: “I said before that we have an option on Dasilva. We don’t have that on Kalas. It wasn’t part of the availability. He’s done so well for us.

“We have ongoing discussions with Chelsea and he will come into the discussions.”

This means that Celtic and Rangers can finally go all out to sign Tomas Kalas during the summer.

While Bristol City might still have the upper hand but playing under Steven Gerrard and also fighting for a league title might very well entice Tomas Kalas and convince him to move to Scotland during the summer transfer window.

But all said and done, Chelsea have a two-window transfer ban meaning the club cannot sign any new players during the summer.

So if the Blues decide to call back Tomas Kalas at the end of the current season then it shouldn’t really come as a big surprise.
