Spurs manager Jose Mourinho had recently claimed that Troy Parrott was not ready to play for the first XI despite Harry Kane spending time on the sidelines. But against Wolves, the boss dropped all his judgments by bringing on the youngster in the final minute in order to try and save the match.

The Spurs boss said after the match, as quoted by Football London: “He is not ready, he is not ready.

“He’s a good kid, a good talent, he’s a kid we want to help. He’s a kid who needs help, not just on the pitch but outside the pitch. He’s a kid we’re going to take care of like we have since the beginning. And he’s a kid who is obviously going to have a real opportunity in the right moment when we feel it is the moment.

“Why was he on the bench? He was on the bench because Lamela told me before the game he was not even ready to go on the bench.

“So in that moment, without Lamela, we brought Troy in and in the last five minutes we put on a striker who at least knows the position so he could try to fix Coady and at least try to give some more space and freedom to Dele. That’s the way it is.”

Troy Parrott only got a couple of minutes to play but according to Ian Wright, Jose Mourinho should try and use the youngster more since he could be the next Marcus Rashford.

“You are looking for a spark,” the Arsenal icon said.

“There have been a few mental mistakes, but they’ve got a young guy there, and you might as well throw him in and see if he is going to be able to help you out in this situation.

“He might nick a couple of goals, do a [Marcus] Rashford, do a Harry Kane, nick a couple of goals and before you know it, there’s a different style of play, because a couple of times today they had no-one up there.

“Dele Alli was trying to get there, Lucas Moura was trying to get there, but it kind of slowed the play up a bit, just have a look at Troy Parrott, man.

“Put Parrott in. I don’t know what three minutes is going to do for him. Give him 20 minutes, see what he can do.

“He only got three minutes, I was gutted for him.”

Marcus Rashford broke into the Manchester United first XI when things were’s going right for then manager Louis Van Gaal and since then the England international has only seen a rise in his career graph.

And this has primarily been because each and every Manchester United boss has shown their faith on Rahsford and his abilities and Ian Wright clearly feels that 18-year-old Troy Parrott can emulate the same thing for the Lilywhites.
