Rangers FC signed more than a dozen players during the summer transfer window and amongst those players were two strikers – Umar Sadiq and Kyle Lafferty.

Lafferty returned to Ibrox for a second stint with the club after signing from Hearts late on during the summer while Umar Sadiq came on a season-long loan deal from AS Roma.

But after a month into the new season, Steven Gerrard has clearly landed his faith on Kyle Lafferty alongside his number one striker Alfredo Morelos.

This means that first team appearances have been hard to come by for Umar Sadiq who so far has made only three substitute appearances for the Light Blues.

The youngster though has made it clear that he is not really disheartened with the lack of game time and is willing to fight for his place in the starting line-up.

Umar Sadiq told Supersport: “It’s too soon to talk about movements.

“I am here to play football and I know it won’t be easy, it’s a privilege to work with a living legend like Steven Gerrard.

“I’m working hard in training and we’re doing the right things.

“It’s just too early to talk about leaving, let’s see how the future turns out.”

Umar Sadiq moved to Rangers primarily because he was unable to break into the first team at Roma but it seems his luck is not favouring him at Ibrox either.

But now that the Gers are playing in the Europa League, games will arrive thick and fast meaning Umar Sadiq will be used by the manager sooner or later.

And the fact that Steven Gerrard is recently using two strikers up front will give Umar Sadiq even more hope.
