This weekend, Tottenham Hotspur will head across London to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage and defender Micky van de Ven is going to miss this Premier League tie.

Micky van de Ven was taken off early in the second half during Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday and initially, it was thought that the centre-back has sustained only a minor hamstring issue.

His manager, on Wednesday, has revealed that even though the setback is not serious Micky will not be ready for this weekend’s match.

Ange Postecoglou said on Wednesday: “He’s unlikely for this weekend, we don’t think it’s anything major.”

Micky van de Ven arrived in England last summer from Wolfsburg and in just one season, the 22-year-old has become one of the best performers for Spurs. To date, he’s featured in 18 Premier League games for the club and he is definitely been one of the best centre-backs in the league this campaign.

In the Villa game, Radu Dragusin replaced Van de Ven in the 49th minute and Postecoglou could rely on the Romanian international to partner Romero at Craven Cottage. The Spurs manager also has Ben Davies who can come into the side so in terms of like-for-like replacements, Ange has a couple of options.

After the 4-0 win, Tottenham have moved to within two points of Villa and they still have a game in hand. The Lilywhites need to win their game in hand if they want to get into the top four but going to Fulham will be a tricky affair.

The Cottagers are currently 12th on the EPL table and they have won three out of their five matches. On paper, this one should be an easy win for Spurs but without Micky van de Ven, Ange will have to be really careful because Romero has a hot head on his shoulders while Dragusin has hardly featured this season.
