After Man United struggled past Rochdale in the League Cup on Wednesday, certain quotes from Arsene Wenger have caught the attention of the footballing world.

A Twitter account related to Man United news and updates quoted the Arsenal manager saying that the managerial position at Old Trafford would be a “dream job” for anyone.

And since then there have been several reports suggesting that Arsene Wenger might be contacted if the Man United hierarchy chooses to part ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Also, the timing of such a statement is pretty awkward since Man United and Arsenal take on each other on Monday in the Premier League.

Now though, beIN Sports(as they were named in the quote) have cleared the air saying that the statements are fake.

A spokesman for Bein Sports said(as quoted by Football London): “Arsene hasn’t been a guest of beIN SPORTS in recent weeks so the quotes weren’t given to us.

“We last spoke to him at the start of the month and these comments weren’t from that interview.”

The Sports channel also put a video on Twitter with a caption: “What Arsene Wenger REALLY said about MUFC.”

In the video, Wenger is quoted as saying: “When you see Man United there is potential there but they have not found a collective way, maybe because these players are not mature enough to carry the team play of a team like Man United altogether.

“You feel there’s something coming out but it’s not ready. When you watch them play they are not candidates to fight for the championship.

“Will they emulate what Giggs, Scholes, Beckham did over the years? Personally I’m not convinced.”

At a lot of Arsenal fans weren’t too charmed with the links between Arsene Wenger and Man United. But now these people can breathe easy and focus on the Man United vs Arsenal due to be played on Monday.
