West Ham United are planning to sign Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea – according to the latest reports.

The midfielder joined Chelsea from Leicester City during the summer of 2017 but since then the player has failed to secure a regular playing spot in the Blues lineup.

Last season, Danny Drinkwater made a limited appearance under Antonio Conte but this campaign the midfielder has not played a single minute of Premier League football.

Chelsea

manager Maurizio Sarri has claimed that he has no use of Danny Drinkwater and the club will happily sell him off during the January transfer window.

“I think for him the problem is only my football,” Sarri said in December.

“He’s a very good midfielder but he is suitable for a midfield two because with a three he is not really a central midfielder or suitable for centre right or centre left.

“I don’t know. It depends on the club, it’s up to him.”

And now reports are suggesting that Manuel Pellegrini is planning to make a move for the unwanted midfielder.

As per TransferMarkt, Danny Drinkwater is valued at 15 million euros but given that he is of no use to Sarri, the club will happily let him off for much less.

Drinkwater is fully fit and will be itching to get some game time under his belt and the midfielder will happily accept an offer from West Ham United.

Even if that means that he has to take a hefty wage cut in order to join the London Stadium.
