Rangers FC might lose Lee Hodson on a free transfer at the end of the current Premiership season.

The right-back joined Rangers in 2016 from MK Dons but as soon as Steven Gerrard was appointed as the new Gers boss during the summer it was clear that Hodson had no role in the squad.

Lee Hodson had been sent out on loan to St Mirren during the summer and that deal expires at the end of the season.

Gerrard has chosen to call back a number of players who had been sent out on loan during the summer but Lee Hodson’s name is unfortunately on that list.

And this could only mean that the player is unwanted.

Lee Hodson is a versatile right-back who can also play in midfield and this season the 27-year-old has made 18 Premiership appearances for St Mirren.

With the player’s current deal expiring at the end of the season, Rangers have shown no signs of handing him a new deal but perhaps the worst part is that even St Mirren are not too keen to keep him for the long run.

While St Mirren have not particularly rejected the idea but Lee Hodson will clearly have to play exceptional football during the second half of the season if he wants that permanent deal at Mirren.

It is sure that Lee Hodson is not coming back to Ibrox during the summer and if St Mirren too, refuse to hand him a new deal then reports have it that the right-back could head to England and try his luck with one of the Championship clubs.
