4-2-3-1 West Ham United’s predicted line up vs Aston Villa: Areola to remain in goal?

West Ham United

West Ham United added another feather to their cap in midweek when they knocked Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup and now beaming with confidence, the Hammers take on Aston Villa.

West Ham face Villa away from home in the Premier League and going by recent form, Moyes’ side are the outright favourites to pick up all three points on Sunday. West Ham have won three out of their previous five league matches while the home side have suffered three consecutive defeats in the same competition.

The London outfit are currently fourth on the league table with 17 points and since they have to face Liverpool next weekend, the manager will look to avoid defeat at all costs this weekend.

The Hammers boss played a really strong side in midweek so there could be a massive issue of fatigue when they face Villa. Also, next week, West Ham United are back in the Europa League so Moyes will have to keep an eye on that fixture as well. We hope he opts for rotation on Sunday but knowing David Moyes, we don’t think he will walk down that route.

West Ham United team news vs Aston Villa:

Areola had a stellar time in goal vs Man City and Fotmob had given him a rating of 8.4 out of 10 for his performance. But on Sunday, he will move back to the bench as Fabianski comes back into the side.

Dawson and Issa Diop played as the two centre-backs in midweek but summer signing Kurt Zouma and Ogbonna will reprise their roles at Villa Park.

Vladimir Coufal came off the bench in midweek meaning David Moyes has no injury concerns going into this match. He will be pushing for a start since Ben Johnson played the full 90 minutes vs Manchester City.

The West Ham United boss chose to keep Declan Rice on the bench in midweek so the England international will also return to the starting line up, replacing the experienced but ageing Mark Noble.

Moyes reshuffled his forward line altogether for the Carabao Cup game, keeping Fornals, Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen on the bench. All of them came on as a sub in the second half though and will most certainly get back their starting roles against Aston Villa.

Michail Antonio was another big-name player who was rested so he too will return on Sunday.

Alex Král is currently the only player who is ruled out since he picked up COVID earlier this month.

West Ham United predicted line up vs Aston Villa:
