West Ham United have managed to crawl out of the relegation zone after a 0-0 draw vs Chelsea this weekend at the London Stadium.

While a point against the Blues will seem no less than a win for the Hammers but Manuel Pellegrini will know for sure that his team had a number of chances to put the game to bed.

The likes of Michail Antonio and Andriy Yarmolenko had the chance to give West Ham United the lead and also possibly the three points.

West Ham play Macclesfield Town in the League Cup in midweek after which they welcome Manchester United to the London Stadium. And Manuel Pellegrini has urged his players to find the net when Jose Mourinho’s side visit town.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Pellegrini said:

“Today we had three real chances to win the game. We played a very good tactical game because we allowed them to have the possession, but they didn’t create too many chances.

“When you have those clear chances, you must score. Not only Yarmolenko, Michail Antonio also had a very clear chance.”

Chelsea themselves missed a couple of chances but Manuel Pellegrini does not expect Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United to make those very same mistakes.

The Hammers manager also stressed on the fact at how much he missed Marko Arnautovic who was unable to make himself fit for the game while his other striker Javier Hernandez remained absent due to illness.

He added: “Arnautovic was a big miss, he is an important player, he’s scoring goals.

“I’m happy because we’re improving. That is the way to try to win.

“When you’re against big teams, if you cannot win, at least don’t lose it.

“We have our first clean sheet because we are working better in defence.”
