West Ham United spent huge amounts of money in the transfer market during the summer and all those new players have certainly changed the dynamic of the team.

Initially, there was a bit of hiccup but right now it looks like that the players have all settled down well under Manuel Pellegrini and are playing as a unit.

One would have thought that after spending so heavily on transfers last year, the Hammers might be looking to take things slow this time around.

But reports suggest that will not be the case.

Pellegrini has been eyeing a move for a number of players at the end of the season and one of them is likely going to be the longtime partner to midfielder Declan Rice.

Rice recently committed his future at the London club by signing a new deal and now Pellegrini wants to bring in someone who can compliment him.

And it looks like the Hammers have set their sights on Newcastle United‘s Jonjo Shelvey.

Jonjo Shelvey has fallen down the pecking order under Rafa Benitez this season and West Ham are looking make a £20 million bid for him at the end of the season.

Jonjo Shelvey is currently contracted with the Magpies until 2021 but given that he has played in only 11 Premier League games this season, Benitez will not hesitate to let him leave.

Newcastle United did receive a number of offers for the midfielder during the January window but the club were not eager to sell him off during the middle of the season.

But if the Hammers are actually willing to offer £20 million for Jonjo Shelvey during the summer we do not see a reason why the transfer should not go through.

And if West Ham do manage to get him then surely the former Liverpool man can be the ideal replacement for the ageing Mark Noble.
