Spurs take on Newcastle United on Sunday in the Premier League and Nuno Espirito Santo has been put under huge pressure after two of his players have tested positive.

The Spurs boss is already without some really important players this weekend due to the complex South American schedule and now as per reports, two players have contracted COVID and they had even trained with the rest of the squad on Thursday.

The Mirror claims: “Tottenham’s plans for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Newcastle have been plunged into chaos after two players tested positive for coronavirus.

“Both men, who trained with the group on Thursday, were shown to have contracted Covid-19 after tests in the last 24 hours.

“The two unnamed players must now isolate for 10 days as per Government rules, keeping them out of the game at St James’ Park, a Europa Conference League match against Vitesse Arnhem and the London derby at West Ham next weekend.

“The club are understood to be confident that no other players will have to isolate having come into close contact.”

Which two Spurs players have tested positive?

All the major reports coming out of London have not mentioned any names right now, only claiming that the two players are part of the first-team squad.

But according to Paul O Keefe, a FIFA registered intermediary, the two Spurs players who have tested positive are Son and 20-year-old Bryan Gil.

O Keefe has 38K followers on Twitter and he’s a decently reliable source so there’s a big chance that indeed Son and Bryan Gil are the two Spurs players who have tested positive.

This is a major crisis situation for the Spurs manager since he’s already without players like Romero, Lo Celso, Davinson Sanchez and Emerson.

Also, Steven Bergwijn is just returning from injury and he might not be a 100% fit for the Newcastle United game. But if Son and Bryan Gil have really rested positive then Nuno has no other option but to use Bergwijn down the left wing.
