Arsenal suffered yet another loss in the Premier League, this time losing 1-0 to Aston Villa away from home on Tuesday.

The loss means the Gunners are currently 10th on the league table with 53 points meaning they are on the verge of missing out on the Europa League as well.

Arsenal went into this game at the back of a hard-fought win against Manchester City in the semi-final of the FA Cup which is why the loss to Villa is even more embarrassing.

Aston Villa were in the bottom three before this match began but after the win ensured that they have temporarily climbed out of the relegation zone and according to Granit Xhaka, the home side showed more urgency and hunger on Tuesday.

He said after the club, as reported: “I think it was Aston Villa, their fight, they put everything out in each half and in my opinion they deserved the three points.

“Yes, we have a gameplan and we know they are very strong on set-pieces but we did too many fouls near our box, too many corners against them but we didn’t play our gameplan. They were more aggressive than us and deserved it.

“But, in my opinion, you can’t come here and play like this. It’s not good enough and you can’t play with this mentality.

“It was not enough to take something from today, and we knew if we won today, the last game if we won as well we could have got into the Europa League, but now we have to win the FA Cup and we have more pressure. But we will do everything to win the FA Cup now.”

Next up, Arsenal take on Watford in the Premier League, a match which will be of very little importance so all their focus will surely be the FA Cup final against Chelsea

A win at Wembley would ensure that the Gunners qualify for the Europa League next season meaning the seventh-placed side on the Premier League table will miss out.
