Borna Barisic joined Rangers FC in 2018 from NK Osijek but last season, the left-back had a real roller-coaster of a ride.

During the 2018-19 season, Barisic featured in only 15 Premiership games as his time at the club was marred with constant injuries.

He missed the first four months of the season due to calf and knee injuries and now speaking about his manager, Borna Barisic has revealed that he did have some issues with Gerrard due to his injury struggles.

Barisic said(as quoted by Football Scotland): “Whenever he[Gerrard] trains with us, he’s great. It would take him about a month to be fit again, but he would be really dangerous.

“Every cross he puts in is quality.

“I had some problems with him because of my injury with Croatia, but that is behind us now. I will always be concentrating on Rangers first and it will be that way for as long as I play with them. The Celtic defeat was only one game – it doesn’t change anything.

“We had started the season really well. We got through all our matches in Europe and were thrilled to get to the group stage. We also won all our matches in the league. We were playing really well, everyone was happy, but then we lost to Celtic.

“But no one can say they outplayed us in the game. They got the second goal when we were attacking to try and get an equaliser.

“This year we are very much going for the title.”

So far Borna Barisic has featured in two Premiership games for the Gers but he was left out of the first XI during Rangers’ 0-2 loss to Celtic in the Old Firm Derby.

Now the left-back has joined Croatia during the international break but is expected to return back to action when Rangers take on Livingston on the 14th of this month.

But some rumours though claim that Steven Gerrard does not fully trust Borna Barisic and he might fall down the pecking order especially after Jon Flanagan had such a good outing during the derby.
