In case you did not know then the current summer transfer window will close down early for the Premier League.

Senior executives from the 20 Premier League clubs had met last year to vote on the decision to close down the transfer window early and after discussing on the matter for almost 4 hours, 14 clubs had voted in favour of the decision.

It is believed that the clubs which voted against the decision were Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Watford and Swansea City while there was one abstention from Burnley.

When will the transfer window close this summer?

The summer transfer will close at 17:00 BST on August the 9th, before the 2018-19 season of the Premier League season kicks off.

This means that the summer transfer window for the Premier League will now close almost three weeks early from its usual date of August 31st.

This decision has been taken in order to avoid interrupting the new campaign with player transfers.

When will the transfer window close for the rest of Europe?

This new date of the closure of the summer transfer window is currently applicable only for the Premier League meaning other leagues in Scotland, Italy, Spain etc can do their usual business.

For the rest of the UEFA nations, the transfer window will close on the usual date of August 31st.

How will transfers take place with two different dates?

Once the transfer window for the Premier League closes down, they will still be able to do business until August 31st but that will only be restricted to selling players.

Meaning if a Premier League club wants they can sell players to the other leagues but will not be able to buy replacements after the 9th of August.

This though is sure to be a small-time problem as big leagues like the Bundesliga and the Serie A will shift to the Premier League transfer window model.
