Celtic FC should not have any issues in making midfielder Ryan Christie sign a new deal at the club this summer, that’s according to Alex Bruce.

Recently, Neil Lennon had confirmed that the Bhoys were in the process of offering the 25-year-old a new deal saying, as per Daily Record: “That’s an avenue we will look to pursue. He was terrific for us last year and I’ve love to give him an extension.

“It’s all quiet right now in terms of talks because there’s been so much going on but we’ll be picking that up again soon.

“He scored 20 goals last year and I’m sure he would have added more if the season went on. That’s a fantastic return for a wide man. But it wasn’t just his goals. It was his all-round game that was so important for us.

“It’s like James Forrest and a good few others, they really weighed in and Ryan was right at the top as well.”

And as per Alex Bruce, the fact that Christie has grown up in Scotland will play a major part in convincing him to remain at Parkhead beyond the summer of 2022.

Bruce told Football Insider: “He’s one of their main players in my opinion – him, McGregor, Scott Brown, Edouard – these are the kind of lads they want to tie down.

“He falls into that bracket, he’s one of their key players so I can understand why Lenny wants to keep hold of him.

“10-in-a-row is something that a lot of players at Celtic will want to do, especially homegrown players where the club means a lot to them.

“I think with foreigners sometimes it can be a little bit different but when you’re homegrown or you’re a Celtic supporter, you’re from the area, you can understand fully that achievement.”

During the 2019-20 season, Ryan Christie has been in sensational form, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists in just 24 Premiership matches for the Parkhead outfit.
