Arsenal have a long-standing interest in signing Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace and there’s a big chance that the Emirates outfit might get their man this time around.

During the 2019-20 season, Zaha scored four goals and provided five assists in 38 Premier League matches and many believe the Ivorian international will be a perfect fit at Arsenal.

But according to his Palace teammate Andros Townsend, Wilfried Zaha should be aiming to play for a club which can offer him top tier European football next season.

“Wilfried Zaha could play for the very best in the world,” Townsend said on Wednesday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.

“He’s the most talented player I’ve ever played with and he should be playing in the Champions League.

“I’m very grateful that we have him at Palace, everyone at the club is grateful, and if we have him beyond this window we’d be even more grateful!

“If that’s the case I’m sure he’ll knuckle down and have another great season.

Very disappointed we didn’t get a better result yesterday but I wanted to come on here to thank you for all your messages of support. I would also like to thank West Midlands Police for their swift action in making an arrest. People need to understand that whatever your age, that your behaviour and your words come with consequences and you cannot hide behind social media. It is important social media platforms do as they did yesterday and seek out these individuals and remove them. This is not the first time I have received messages like this, nor am I the only player to receive messages like this – it happens every day. I want to thank everyone for the love and support but enough is enough ! It is not enough to be disgusted by these messages I received and move on. It isn’t enough to just say #notoracism . We need action, we need education, things need to change.

“He deserves to be playing at the highest level, but as long as he’s a Palace player and hopeful it does continue beyond this window, we’re grateful and delighted to have him.”

The kind of performances that Wilfried Zaha has shown at Crystal Palace over the past few seasons, there’s no denying that the player is destined to play in the Champions League.

But the harsh reality is that no major UCL club are interested in signing him this summer. So either he chooses to play in the Europa League next season and possibly work his way up the ladder or he remains at Selhurst Park and works on sharpening his skills further.
