Willian Chelsea
Willian playing for Chelsea

Chelsea winger Willian is set to be a free agent in the summer and clubs like Arsenal and Spurs are interested in signing him for the upcoming season – as per reports.

The Blues will not be offering him a new deal at the club which is why the Brazilian is looking to head for greener pastures but at the same time, he wishes to remain in London for the rest of his playing career.

ESPN are claiming that Willian is eager to join Arsenal for the upcoming season since the Emirates outfit are willing to meet all his demands for a new deal. The Gunners are ready to provide him with a three-year contract and are also ready to match his current salary of £120,000 a week.

Also, his former teammate David Luiz is expected to play a big role in helping Arsenal secure the services of the Brazilian winger.

Why Willian is likely to snub a move to join Spurs and not Arsenal:

Yes, Arsenal are ready to meet all of his demands but we still feel Willian is more likely to agree on a move to Spurs in the summer, for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, Spurs can also afford to pay the player his current wages and can also hand him the long-term deal which Chelsea has refused to give him.

Secondly, the Lilywhites are currently being managed by Jose Mourinho and Willian shares a really strong bond with the Portuguese manager. So if Mourinho wants the Brazilian at Spurs next season, there’s every chance he will snub a move to Arsenal.

Also, if Willian was to join Arsenal next season he will have to fight with Nicolas Pepe for a place in the first XI which is an uphill task given the Gunners spent a large sum of money to bring in the former Ligue 1 sensation.

He will face competition at Spurs as well but at White Hart Lane things are much more mellow given the likes of Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela usually operate down the right wing.

Right now, the Chelsea player has denied rumours of him agreeing to a deal with Tottenham but we think, it’s only a matter of time before the winger snubs Arsenal and joins their arch-rivals.
