Axel Disasi to Arsenal
Axel Disasi to Arsenal

Centre-back Axel Disasi has been on the transfer radar of clubs like Arsenal, West Ham United and Southampton but the player is not too keen to join the Premier League – as per a report in the Orgullobiri.

All the above-mentioned sides have watched the Reims defender in action all throughout this season and these clubs were sure to make a move for the 22-year-old during the summer transfer window.

Disasi has been a rock-solid figure for Reims in the French top division and he has featured in 27 Ligue 1 matches during the 2019-20 season.

And with so many English clubs interested in signing him during the upcoming transfer window, it was almost certain the defender was going to play in the Premier League next campaign.

But that might not be the case since the player is not too keen to join an English side this summer and instead wants to a move to Spain in order to join Sevilla.

Is Axel Disasi a bad miss for Arsenal and the others?

Arsenal will be getting the services of William Saliba this summer while Mikel Arteta is also likely to hand Pablo Mari a permanent deal at the club. So we do not think the Gunners will be too depressed to have missed out on Disasi.

Apart from Saliba and Mari, the Gunners also have a host of other central defenders at their disposal right now meaning even if the Reims man was to join the Emirates outfit, he will most certainly be way down the pecking order.

But the same cannot be said by Southampton since the Saints are badly in need of new signings for the new season and valued at just £13 million, Axel Disasi would have been the perfect addition to the squad.

Right before this news broke, Southampton were said to be leading the line in this transfer deal but now it looks like Sevilla have leap-frogged over them.

The centre-back has only one more year left on his current deal at Reims so the French side are more than willing to cash in on him this summer. But what remains to be seen is whether Axel Disasi chooses a move to Spain or to England.
