David Raya made two mistakes during Arsenal’s EPL win over Luton Town in midweek and there have been whispers that Aaron Ramsdale could be back in goal against Aston Villa.

Overall, Raya has been pretty solid in front of goal but if Declan Rice hadn’t scored the 97th-minute winner, Arsenal would have dropped two important points at Kenilworth Road.

Since David Raya’s arrival, Aaron Ramsdale has fallen down the pecking order however, despite Raya’s blunders on Tuesday night, Mikel Arteta has hinted that Ramsdale will remain on the bench at Villa Park.

“Look at his[Raya’s] form and what he has achieved since he’s been with us, it’s really impressive, but what can I say? I have three great goalkeepers,” Arteta said in his press conference.

“I’m really happy I have great wingers, some of them are on the bench, but the questions are not related to them and we have to accept that.”

Aaron Ramsdale was very solid for Arsenal last season and even though few eyebrows were raised upon Raya’s arrival, going into the second half of the season his inclusion cannot be questioned. The Spanish keeper is much better with the ball at his feet and in 10 Premier League games, he’s conceded only 10 goals.

Aaron Ramsdale is in no way a bad keeper but Raya, in goal, makes Arsenal a much more cohesive outfit.

The English keeper was ready to fight for his position at the start of the season but recent reports are suggesting that he is ready to leave as early as the January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta has no intentions of handing Aaron Ramsdale starts, not at least in the Premier League matches but at the same time, Arsenal have made it clear that the keeper won’t be sold in January.

This means the 25-year-old will have to be content with a place on the bench until the end of the campaign and then look to secure an exit in the summer.
