Man United are having a really tough season, already losing six out of their first 15 Premier League matches and everyone was hopeful that the management will bring in some fresh recruits during the January window.

Erik ten Hag has been facing a major injury crisis since the very start of the campaign and currently as many as six first-team players are out injured.

All these factors had been pointing to a busy transfer window but Erik ten Hag has come out to claim that Manchester United are not particularly looking to bring in reinforcements at the start of the new year.

“I don’t think [we will spend a lot],” Ten Hag told United We Stand(h/t Fotmob).

“As a club, you have to look for improvements, so if you can find better and it’s realistic financially and with Financial Fair Play, the club has to go with it. But most of the time you don’t attract the best players in the winter.”

Man United are without key players like Casemiro, Varane and Mason Mount but despite all these injuries and poor form, the Red Devils are sixth on the table, just four points away from the fourth spot.

There have been talks about Ten Hag wanting to get rid of Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane during the winter window but if Man United do not plan on buying new players then there’s a very slim chance that the manager will sanction any major sales.

Casemiro and Varane have been very average this season but if somehow Man United qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League then the experience of these two ex-Madrid players will come in really handy.

Historically, Manchester United have not been heavy spenders during the January window and after making dozens of poor financial decisions in the previous 10 years, the last thing Ten Hag will want is to overspend on a player.
