Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Everton and Leicester City have all shown serious interest in signing Adam Lallana from Liverpool.
The attacking midfielder is set to be a free agent in the summer which has spiked the attention of a number of big English clubs. But according to his former Saints teammate Dean Hammond, Adam Lallana should look to join the Foxes for the next season.
“Personally, I could see Adam Lallana fitting into any team. He is one hell of a player,” ex-Foxes midfielder Hammond, told the Leicester Mercury, as quoted by Goal.
“He’s one of the best, if not the best I have played with. Both footed, technically brilliant.
“Do Leicester need him? Obviously, that’s another question because you’ve got James Maddison; Harvey Barnes can play in that position. Would he benefit the Leicester team? Would he improve it? Yes, probably.
“He’s a really good player. I could imagine, if you could get him and Maddison both into the team playing together it would be pretty special.
“He would be a great signing, whether he comes or not I don’t know, I haven’t asked him.”
Will Adam Lallana be eager to join Leicester City?
Adam Lallana has been with Liverpool since joining them back in 2014 and this season, the 32-year-old has played in 15 Premier League games for the Anfield outfit. But despite the sizeable number of matches, Liverpool are not likely to trigger the one-year extension clause in his deal.
While Leicester City are currently the frontrunners in landing the playmaker but his £100,000-per-week could be a big obstacle in the agreement of the deal.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are reluctant to pay such steep wages to the 32-year-old and this is where teams like Arsenal have an upper hand.
Everton like Leicester City will not be comfortable in paying such a high salary to Adam Lallana but the Gunners can afford these types of wages since players like Granit Xhaka and Bernd Leno currently earn comparable wages at the club.
But one big drawback for Arsenal is that they are not likely to play in the Champions League next season whereas the Foxes have more or less secured their spot in the European top-division. And this is another big reason why Leicester are currently at the front of the queue to signing the Liverpool man.
